Founded in 1860 by Andrew Jack, Jack & Co Ltd is the longest-running insurance company in Nova Scotia, and one of the oldest brokerages in Canada. After passing the business to his son, Peter Jack, the company would later be purchased by the current owner’s grandfather, Gerald Bishop, in the 1940s.
As a testament to our longevity and customer loyalty, we still have many customers who recall the “old days” of Keith Bishop, Louis Moir, Gerald Barrett, Ms. Harrington and Ms. Peters, and many others running the business during the 1960s and 1970s. Some long-term customers even remember being helped by Gerald Bishop in the 1940s and 1950s.
In 2000, Keith Bishop’s son, Richard Bishop, became owner of Jack & Co, along with his teammates who now run the company: Paula Glencross, Diane Sullivan, Eric McIntyre, Keith Moir, and Charles Goddard.
While we reflect on the progress we’ve made and the lives our company has touched, we look forward to what the next 150 years may bring. We hope you’ll join us. Call Jack & Co Ltd to discuss your personal or business insurance needs.
